ABOUT

Down in the ruins, Erith must fight against a dungeon sprawling with monstrous, giant foods. Will Erith conquer the depths, or will she perish under the weight of her meal?

"RogueWeight" is a short roguelike made for the 2024 Gain Jam, made in 2-weeks. Play as Erith, exploring randomly generated floors stuffed with everything that is... edible! You can eat almost everything in this dungeon so long as you can stomach it!

This game is so great!!! I really hope to see updates, like more stuff past the boss. I saw that updates are on hold for now, but I look forward to when there are updates!

this game is fun but its seems a bit repetitive having to go through the game again and again and again just dying once.. Its not so bad when you find a sack but I never know where the sack is gonna be then its abit discouraging  if the sack fights back...

Sometimes I eat the sack by mistake... I don't know how to fix it other than dying, going to another lvl is just dumb luck finding another sack.  Not to ask to much but a save point would be nice...  Make it work like ink ribbons from Resident Evil...

Idk like Eat a gummy bare in half to show a check point or something. I like the idea of staring over but i would like to be  able to come back right after making 1  mistake... They can trap you then ur luck ran out. Star all over again...

I see the author still replying to comments semi-regularly, so I'd like to make this appeal:

Please continue the development of this game.

Games of this kind tend to be less games and more interactive fetish content.  Any gameplay they have is simple at best, and practically vestigial at worst.  Seeing a game that actually integrates the fetish content into gameplay refreshing and disappointingly rare.

What isn't rare among such games is an abortive development.  Good or bad, the more ambitious ones usually seem to fizzle out after a few updates.  I see signs that this game could be headed in the same direction, and that's a shame given the potential it has.

It's going to take a lot of development, content additions, and tweaks to become a finished product, and let's face it, it's not going to be the next Undertale if only because of its subject matter, but the fundamentals are solid.  All it needs to succeed is the one thing these kinds of games rarely get: a long term commitment from its developer.


As for specific suggestions, like I said the fundamentals are solid.  What the game needs more than anything is more content.

One big change I would make is thus: upon completing a level, Erith loses all the weight she gained, but she retains her skills (base HP, FD, DMG, DEF,  etc).  Furthermore, add a stamina bar.  At base weight, Erith can move as much as she wants without draining stamina.  At higher weights, she needs stamina to move and must stand still to refill it.  Perhaps tie other stats to weight as well, such as increased HP.

This makes the player balance the risk of getting run down by enemies with the reward of more food (xp).  As it stands, even if you get stunlocked by cakes and bashed from every other side by food, as long as you can sprint to the sack you're fine.  There's no reason to not go back and forth to the sack clearing out every level 100%.

With these changes, a player needs to balance the long term need to get xp for the upcoming levels with the immediate need to get out of the one they're in now.  Of course, the amount of "loot" in each level increases with each one, increasing both the risks and the rewards.

So, I mentioned before in the latest update log that I've paused content development updates following the closing of the jam to work on other things before returning to this game, and I'd like to clarify that those plans are still ongoing. I'm currently working on a different weight game project so I have the experience of fully completing a mid-sized game in order to comfortably manage a bigger scope project like RogueWeight. In the meantime, I've been keeping a list of user suggested ideas to play around with later, and I will be making note of yours as well. 

Regrettably, I've been working as slow as a snail for the past month. The game jam period was when I had the convenience to fully focus on getting stuff done, and I was hoping to maintain a slower but respectable pace for what I'm doing now. However, this past month has been rather taxing on my personal life outside of this, so unfortunately my dev schedule has been awfully sporadic.

I understand your concerns about abortive development. I'm aware I haven't made any announcements or posts to showcase anything else recently, and that's partially because I'm conscious about keeping things under wraps until I feel ready to talk about them. However, I would like to reassure you that I don't intend to keep RogueWeight in stasis forever. There's a world I do want to build with this specific player character that I can only do with this game. Moreover, the amount of support and engagement this jam version has received still continues to defy my expectations even today, and I would be a fool to let that go to waste. That's why I've put aside pursuing further game ideas so that once I finish my other game project, I'll be resuming content development for RogueWeight.

Game's wonderful, surprised it could go for my phone (I've lagged out on like second floor since my device is bad af tho), yet after finishing it on computer, I feel like there should be something for eating the whole floor besides the sack to sleep on and hole to next floor, like a secret fun ending, maybe?

I have a favor to ask of you, please Yunyanite don't give up the game, improve it so that it can be played fully, please add the ability to voluntarily finish a stage and mode nsfw with the ability to use any emotions, right up to the ability to jerk off and at the same time the character will make moans and sounds, variations of dungeons and so that they are on the whole map and not on half 😅,And the ending is expanded, you can reach another dungeon and meet new opponents there, it would be great if human girls appeared which could use various toys on you in mode and you can eat them or recruit them and go through the game and endless dungeons with them,in the future:your own house with the possibility of customization using found clothes and hats,change of hairstyles and hair color, the possibility of breast enlargement at your own discretion, as well as the buttocks or abdomen etc,but after completing the dungeon we go to the city which can be developed with the help of materials and resources from the dungeons, complete daily missions, a store with food and potions and the opportunity arrangement and improvement of your home, a tavern where you can meet both ordinary people and adventurers,the game can be turned into not just a game with perversions but a full-fledged roguelike with RPG elements ,but that's later

One particular mechanic I would like to play around with later is being able to encounter a really washed-up version of your character from a previously failed run (akin to a bones file from Nethack), so I suppose having sex isn't off the table. 

That being said, I don't intend to develop big, overarching features like owning a house, completing daily missions, or building a city. To me, these features sound like objectives for significant long-term meta-progression, but I'd like to keep that down to a minimum for a roguelike. I want to design RogueWeight to have value in how a player experiences a run, and not necessarily what a player expects to gain from trying to complete one.

I agree, it is possible that way, but I just think that without it she wouldn’t be so interesting, but these are just thoughts.and I don't know where to grow further, it's just that the more you eat, the more absurd your character looks, it's fun but not exciting, perhaps😂, I even want to see the game as something fun and varied with sex scenes and possibilities... but still there are not enough enemies and dungeons, and maybe some mechanics with items such as full exposure,and customization

When you spawn on the boss floor, eat the south wall in the starting room, and it should open up a secret room with a hole like shown here:

Can you add digestion over time because there is one room with like 30 enemies estimate and it is practically impossible without eating the enemies

it's pretty simple, actually, unless you're in the boss room. if in endless, just fight near a sack, when low on HP, eat an enemy and go sleep, get full HP and fight. if in the boss stage, you just have to be lucky to get good seeds and grind a lot of HP and stomach capacity.

It would be great, it's just that sometimes you have to search for a bag for a long time, if only there was some kind of inventory so that you could not just eat but also store useful things

You can also use "Sneak attacks", since if cleaning a couple secret rooms you would probably has like 3-24 attack power and sneak attacks always choose the highest (24 there) number to deal damage. Nice of boss.

Got any advice for floor 5 specifically, the first boss floor? I've tried my best to use the rest of your advice but that floor ends my runs quite consistently, since there's just way too many enemies. Is there a way to make the fake sack near the starting room into a normal sack or something?

Thanks for the tips, and turns out I did manage to beat it. All you gotta do is (like you mentioned) get as much food capacity as possible, but then instead of dealing with the enemies in the boss room, just haul ass over to the right side of the room, only eating enemies when they are in your way and would prevent you from moving forward. Then just find the boss, eat it, and you win. Thus, much like you were saying, the difference between victory and defeat is basically just RNG.

No idea what that guy said, yet got a strategy. Probably will be fixed in later patches tho. So, you'll need to fing the secret rooms on each of four floors and get out as much capacity and health out. Can be done easily by simply defeating all enemies on floor and then eating walls until you fond the room, sometimes getting weight from walls awya through the sack sleeping. Once you are on fifth floor, try to get enemies into following after you and turn a corner, click on yourself to wait and once enemy shows up, strike them in first turn. If done correctly, it will land a sneak attack (When you land an attack right after you've spotted enemy that is chasing you), it will choose highest amount of damage you can deal, so if you have like 4-50 damage power, it will always choose 50 with sneak attack. Like that it's easy to defeat enemies, unless they are coming in swarms. In that case, just lose them and repeat with next enemy until no enemies are left. Get the sack and all enemies down and easily defeat (or eat the boss). I'm unsure about the spawn in secret rooms, since I always got the cupcake, red-blue-green thingy and that crazy looking head, which would increase my attack power greatly and make it very easy to defeat enemies (all besides the burger and boss went by one hit). I know, a lot of words, but that's all.

Question, what does the "Milk probably" do? Is it just a fun lil item that fills 10 FD? Or is there something that i missed...?

Milk increases breast size but hips can also increase,The more milk you drink, the bigger your breasts will grow, the developer talked about it all but the effects work after sleep,I don't remember exactly what lbs means though😅

1)You can turn the game into a full-fledged roguelike by adding a city on the surface or in the dungeon, which can be developed by opening new buildings, saving NPCs from whom you can initially accept quests and then trade with them or buy something: food, potions, armor, and weapons that can be used and not just eat,also buy clothes, armor and clothing including underwear

2)Inventory where you can store clothes and food and other items, and also through the inventory dress the character

And new mechanics and enemies: enemies will not only be food but also will be both women and men who can wear armor and weapons or walk with a belly,And the mechanics were either eating enemies, but in certain cases (it was possible to eat bosses when they had little health left)and the mechanics of potions: it was possible to make a girl or a futa or grow even bigger breasts and even butt and hips and there were hunger potions if you accidentally ate a bed or a satiety potion that replenished health and gave satiety

In the future, you can even add more different dungeons, chests, boxes and secrets

Wow, I like the game, its idea and the style itself, I hope in the future there will also be dungeons where you can fight and get fucked, you will be able to dress up the character in clothes and much more, the game has potential, I hope they don't abandon it....well, or at least some they will add a gallery where you can just fuck her and give clothes and switch modes NSFW,SFW,I have a lot of ideas but I'm not going to rush you:unique and random generation of dungeons and caves with food generation, mechanics Vore-the ability to eat opponents but the opponent could also eat you and you had to get out as early as possible before you get damaged or get digested, you can also feed the enemy so that he gets fat 😆,also could play after defeating the enemy sex scenes, just wish this game had that please🙏🥺,and much more, I will be very glad if you pay attention and read my message, much is not needed ,, I liked the game and completed it completely, it's just a pity it's short, overall 👍

I really like this game. I think it has the highest potential out of all weight-gain games on itch.io. The only thing this game needs now is time for all the ideas. I tried the game first on mobile, found it a bit buggy and hard, then finished it on pc. After I played on one save over a long time I made Erith massive, and then proceeded to make her eat the entire map as she was gigantic while having the rubik's cube skin.

Here's the screenshot I took. 


After that I accidentally erased that savefile. But then I downloaded version 1.1 and started saving my games in a special folder. Then I started to find the endless dungeons to be a bit dull, so I started to check the code of the of the savefile.

Here's a portion of the savefile code in notepad++.



Eventually I started to wonder how I could change the values inside the game. I found the code segment above which actually contained almost everything about Erith. Her clothing, hp, food status and all other stats. To try and manipulate the code I started to compare savefiles and figured our that all the odd characters were numbers in ASCII which could be translated into hexadecimals. From there I compiled a small list of the different variables values and found out how to set their values to a specific number. 

Here's the list i compiled in notepad.



And eventually I was able to give Erith more hunger points, but not manually increase her weight. So what I did was open a new savefile with a few million hunger points and made her eat to a point which I found her weight to be good enough. Here is her on the edited savefile.



This game is great. The only thing I'm thinking of is how she is able to be so big and still be so nimble in the tight corridors of the dungeon. Really, I don't think I have any right to say which direction this game should go, but I think that as she gets bigger she'll run into problems of size. She should get stuck and take up more spaces as she gets bigger. But as this is an 2d game I'd figure that it might not be totally easy to do in any scenario and might need alot of changes in how the game is coded. Honestly I think as this game is quite young you could look into making it 3d, but only if you think you could manage it. Otherwise, everything is great. And make sure to really take your time with this project, I would love to see more on this, but I can understand some of the limits of this game.

This is a very nice write up! I actually didn't know how the save files were internally structured by Godot, so I enjoyed reading about your technical dive into save editing.

I definitely would like to figure out a satisfying way to incorporate size effects. Not too sure what'll come out of it, but I'm thinking about experimenting with some of the stuff you've mentioned as a starting point.

Great! Ask me if you need anything that is about manipulating the code. I could try and give the notepad document of the different hexadecimal values and how to put them in. I've manage to edit both level depth and body weight. I can show a bit of them, and some other things, look primarily at health and food bars to see the different changes.  -1 Food, accidentally cropped the image, but this lead Erith to lose her entire belly and chest. 


Massive room full of enemies, see depth. Also at this point the game starts to lag, and Erith's jiggles are distorted. When she walks fast her belly starts to fly all across the screen, which reminds me of playing on the phone where the same thing started happening.

Also how do I activate the cheat code? I tried it on console, but it didn't connect to my game. And keyboard didn't work when I tried it. Is anything specific that you can use or any code segment to turn it on?

I've only tested out the cheat code on my computer and my phone, so I'm not too sure how to troubleshoot that. Sorry.

The pinch and konami code are the only two ways to active the cheat in-game, but the cheat toggle is saved as a boolean value under "NO_MILK_RESET" in the options.ini file (same directory as the save file), so if you're willing to do a bit more digging, I guess you could try flipping a 0 to a 1 somewhere.

Oh, yeah it works as intended, only that I forgot to do it on the start screen. And I checked the options file and saw that a 1 already was written for the "NO_MILK_RESET", but it seemed that another 0 turned into a 1 after successfully inserting the code. Thank you! I can't wait to try this out and maybe find a way to manipulate the cheat further!
